Hi! I am Kanupriya!
And welcome to my Travel & Live slow journey...

People know me as the woman in the 4x4, raving through the mountains with a bunch of curious travellers in tow. Fair. But let's rewind a little to see how I got here.

I come from an Architecture & Construction background. Six years into the profession, I realised I was not cut out for the practice. As much as I love architecture as a principle, I enjoyed being outdoors, observing and documenting it more. Writing, sketching, analysing and taking a deep dive into its history and context became a part of the process. This interest took me places (literally and metaphorically), and I chose to switch careers.

So, 13 years back, I announced myself a full-time traveller and chose to slow travel through India, relocating every 4–5 years into a new culture, food, people and history. What better way to 'settle', I thought to myself! Along the way, I did some short stints to keep myself financially and mentally healthy: as a visiting faculty, a fitness trainer, an art teacher and an architect. Then in 2016, while living in Sikkim, I declared myself a travel professional. With no background in tourism, I did anticipate challenges, but the fundamentals were clear in my head. "I am made for this," I often heard myself saying whenever I was in doubt. That's how All India Permit, Travel & Photography aka @travel.a.i.p was born, and a decade later, it still runs on my experiences and my way of life.

The history nerd in the den

Here's the part fewer people know. Reading came to me wayy late, at 23, and history crept in through the architect in me. I have never been able to look at a road, a monastery or a border post without asking who built it, why there, and why like that. Follow that question far enough across the Himalayas and you land on the old trade routes, and eventually in Central Asia, in Bukhara and Samarkand, where the caravans carrying wool, salt and silk were headed. One book I picked up at Gulshan Book Store in Srinagar, Foreign Devils on the Silk Road, pulled me in so deep that it ended up moving me to Manali.

And honestly? I read history as self-help. Every route is a story of people who adapted, traded, lost and started over. Reading them makes me humbler, more patient and a better person, on the road and off it. That's what I bring into every trip I curate.

Why this blog

Living an inquisitive Himalayan life for over a decade, I've realised that the only way to progress and heal is to slow down, travel inwards and break the conditioning of success, love and happiness. I write to share that, and to inspire you to break free, time travel and explore, within and beyond, to really live.

So here's your mixed bag: the trips I curate on Curated Experiences, everything worth knowing before you plan on Your Free Travel Guide, and my stories, real and semi-fictional, on My Route Tales.
